WE ARE COMBAT STRESS, THE UK'S LEADING CHARITY FOR VETERANS' MENTAL HEALTH
For over a century we’ve been helping former servicemen and women deal with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. Today we provide specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict, focusing on those with complex mental health issues related to their military service.
The main objective is to make wellbeing and mental strength a key foundation in everyone’s daily plan.
We are passionate about making positive changes. Changing behaviour, changing habits – either breaking bad ones or creating good ones – is a key element to Its’ Mental wellbeing coaching programmes are to teach and guide everyone to have a good work, life balance and most importantly Be Happy.
We have a team of Coaches who help people to identify what their aspirations are and works with the client to make this achievable. We are all about action. Mental action. Physical action. If we can get just one stressed out person to look up and open their eyes to the wider possibilities, then we have started the process of positive change and good things will begin to present themselves.
The Its Mental teams purpose and passion is to teach others to improve and manage their Mental Wellbeing.

Combat2Coffee was formed by Nigel Seaman
after being diagnosed with PTSD that was linked to service around 2 years ago. Nigel had always had this fascination to work with coffee and decided to use coffee as the vehicle to help others. Wanting the Journey to be end to end he decided to use another veteran who roasts coffee beans to roast the Combat2Coffee Recovery Blend, this is were the slogan "Roasted, Toasted and Poured By Veterans" originates from. it is hoped in time that another veteran who completes the Barista Training with Combat2Coffee works on the project this would make the journey even more end to end!
What CALM Does
Frontline services
Anyone can hit crisis point. We run a free and confidential helpline and webchat – 7 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone who needs to talk about life’s problems. We support those bereaved by suicide, through the Support After Suicide Partnership (SASP).
Communities
Together we’ll help our parents, siblings, partners, friends and colleagues. We spread our message and facilitate, universities, pubs, clubs and prisons across the country – so that people feel empowered to share their experiences and get the help they need before they reach the point of crisis.
Campaigns
Everyone has a part to play. We campaign with media partners, brands and ambassadors to spread awareness of suicide and its devastating impact with campaigns like #Project84, #DontBottleItUp and The Best Man Project. We challenge boring male stereotypes and encourage positive behavioural change and help-seeking behaviour, using cultural touch points like art, music, sport and comedy.
Shout 85258 is a free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone who is struggling to cope.
We launched publicly in May 2019 and we’ve had more than 500,000 conversations with people who are anxious, stressed, depressed, suicidal or overwhelmed and who need immediate support. As a digital service, Shout 85258 has become increasingly critical since Covid-19, being one of the few mental health support services able to operate as normal at this time.
