Your Role as a Prison Pre-Release Worker

As a Prison Pre-Release Worker, you will play a key role in supporting women preparing to leave custody. Working closely with external agencies, including the Probation Service, accommodation providers, and rehabilitative services, you will ensure that individuals have access to the right support to reintegrate into society successfully.

Your role will involve conducting initial assessments of women entering custody, identifying their specific needs, and making appropriate referrals to services that can support their rehabilitation. You will provide case management for low- and medium-risk individuals while assisting in the management of higher-risk cases alongside probation officers. You will also liaise with multiple stakeholders, attend key meetings, and contribute to risk management processes such as Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA).

The role requires regular face-to-face interaction with residents and may include early morning or late-night work on occasion. You will be responsible for maintaining detailed case records and ensuring all reports and referrals are completed accurately and within agreed timeframes. Your work will directly contribute to reducing reoffending rates, protecting the public, and supporting safer transitions from custody to the community.

Please see the attached job description for a more detailed list of the main responsibilities.
