Description ACCIONA is looking to appoint a Deputy Environmental Manager based in our North London Heat and Power Project in Edmonton, London E4 8JG.

Main responsibilities:
•Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the role holds line management responsibility for the Site Environmental Advisor and Environmental Apprentice.
•Required to be conversant with Schedule 5 of the EPC Contract, the Development Consent Order, Code of Construction Practice and supporting documents from the Client.
•Instruct and coordinate the activities of consultants retained by ACCIONA to address environmental matters on a variety of specialisms.
•Coaching and mentoring the Site Environmental Advisor and Environmental Apprentice.
•Supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of the ISO14001 certified EMS as directed by the Environmental Manager.
•Maintenance and further development (as required) of the CEMP and associated documentation such as the SWMP, Contaminant Management Plan, Pollution Incident Response Plan, register of legal obligations, environmental aspects and impacts and other documentation.
•Maintaining the Environment Training Needs register.
•Developing and providing environmental training.
•Approving the environmental parts of the Contractor’s risks assessments and method statements (RAMS).
•Conducting regular reviews and compliance checks of the Environmental Legal Obligations and Environmental Aspects and Impacts.
•Managing environmental incidents and complaints processes to identify trends and to identify root causes, corrective and preventative actions needed.
•Lead investigations into minor and near miss environmental incidents as required.
•Support the Environmental Manager as directed in investigating major environmental incidents.
•Support environmental monitoring and reporting. Direct the Site Environmental Advisor, Environmental Apprentice and external consultants as required to obtain monitoring data and maintain records.
•As directed by the Environmental Manager, undertaking audits of the Contractor and Subcontractors against legal and contractual requirements provided that it is independent of the activity being audited.
•Conduct weekly site inspections and record findings, working with ACCIONA personnel and subcontractors to ensure that they are managed to completion.
•Developing and managing a programme of environmental audits and site inspections.
•Providing information to the Environmental Manager for the environmental elements of weekly and monthly progress reports; enabling the Environmental Manager to complete the reports.

What we are looking for:
•Membership in the IEMA or organisation of similar standing is essential.
•You must have experience mentioned under the main responsibilities above.
•Ideally, working in the construction EPC or waste management industry, as you will be a member of the Principal Contractor’s team.
