Description We are passionate about delivering and are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join Armed Forces and Veterans Services (AFVS) IT Service Assurance to help oversee the Information and Communication Technology used by DBS to deliver Military Pay, Pensions and HR services. You will be part of the AFVS Team working on a mixture of in-house and outsourced capabilities that are subject to a major transformation programme.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work with our delivery partner to ensure continuation and improvement of the IT services. It will provide you with the opening to develop your knowledge and to gain hands on experience in the delivery of high-profile IT services used in an operational HR environment.

Working closely with the Service Assurance Manager and our contractor, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team applying ITIL practices to ensure operational, business and contractual requirements are met and to ensure the IT services used in the delivery of Military HR meet operational requirements for our Military and Veteran communities.

You will be responsible for a number of Change Projects required to ensure the IT estate remains Evergreen, reviewing and engaging with both internal and external projects to mitigate risks to operations and business outputs, and assuring all services are fit for purpose including alignment with Government and MOD policy.

You will be expected to work with MOD (Civilian, Military and contractor) staff as well as with the prime supplier in monitoring performance to identify any issues and ensure where opportunities to improve the service are taken forward.

We are looking for a self-motivated and competent, IT orientated individual, with a broad range of knowledge and experience to fulfil this IT Service role. Experience of both traditional and agile IT projects and IT Service Management would be an advantage.

Main responsibilities:

Working with the prime supplier and other stakeholders such as MOD Defence Digital Case Officer, DBS Architects, Security, Test and Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) Teams to:
Mitigate risks to business output from potential impacts to the IT estate.
Identify and report potential operational service improvements opportunities.
Monitor technical road-maps to ensure contractual compliance is maintained while reviewing changes to the services for any potential impact on future operations.

Ensure that:

AFVS applications are successfully integrated and tested with MOD supplied IT services.
All technical requirements for the services are met and all IT assets (including hardware, software, licences and support arrangements) are managed, registered and maintained.
AFVS IT services obtain and maintain the correct accreditation and ICT policy and legislation compliance.
System security is maintained while threats are identified and mitigated.
Service outputs can be maintained in the event of unplanned service disruption.

As line manager you will be responsible for a team of 4 personnel based at Norcross, Blackpool; comprising the Veterans IT Support team supporting Veterans Operations teams dealing with War Pensions and Armed Forces Compensation applications.

As part of any hybrid working pattern, you will be expected to attend the office at your home location for minimum of 60% of your working week. As part of this 60% attendance you will be required to attend a minimum of 1 day per month at Gosport if based elsewhere and minimum of 1 day per month at Norcross.
