Your role and responsibilities

In your role, you will;

  • work efficiently and effectively with Children and Young People (CYP), their families and partner agencies to provide support through the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) journey as well as ensuring statutory timescales are met
  • have direct case responsibility for a cohort of pupils with Education Health Care Plans (EHCP) in local mainstream and specialist early years’ settings, of statutory school age and post 16, monitoring progress through annual reviews and ensuring EHC Plans remain current and relevant
  • coordinate and complete EHC Needs Assessments within statutory timescales, demonstrate key-working approaches in everyday practice and have professional relationships with and understanding of education settings and partner agencies to underpin this work.

You will need

  • a suitable qualification at Level 2 and above or equivalent experience in a relevant area of work
  • evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
  • experience of collaborative work with children and young people families and professionals and evidence of using solution focused approaches in practice
  • a key understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures
  • be skilled in working with people
  • to be able to work flexibly to meet the demands of this challenging yet rewarding role.

The team

The SEND Family Services Team:

  • are a supportive and friendly team
  • leads on all aspects of our family facing work and supports individual children and young people with SEND and their families throughout their SEND journey. This includes securing the right education offer to support their specific needs and ensuring regular and effective review of their progress, holding providers to account across the system for meeting the needs of individual children and young people
  • includes practitioners from a range of backgrounds who provide a wealth of knowledge and experience and support partnerships across the education, health, and care system.
